The Order

Membership in the Order

Membership in the Ordo Equester Aurei Cervi (Inc.) is open to everyone - independently of sex, nationality, race, colour or religion - if the following conditions set up in the Constitution and Rules of the Order are fulfilled:

  • achieved 18th year of birth;
  • recognised social or legal vocational position;
  • member of the community in good standing;
  • readiness for the acknowledgment and adherence to the Order's Constitution, Statutes and Regulations and Rules of the Order;
  • readiness for active cooperation to the Aims and Purposes of the Order.

Ladies within the Order have equal standing in Grades, and can hold Titles as can gentlemen. The Order does not discriminate between Ladies and Gentlemen.

Like other traditional Knight Orders, the Ordo Equester Aurei Cervi (Inc.) knows different Grades for its members, which are expressed by different insignia. However, the Golden Hart (Stag) is not an award of honour, but a character of affiliation to the Ordo Equester Aurei Cervi (Inc.).

Members Obligations

Every person, proposed for admission into the Order shall be of sound mind and of such means and position as will enable them to live honourably and to observe fully and freely the laws and decrees of the Order. Each postulant must prove that they are a person of irreproachable conduct, honour and integrity.

A number of obligations are demanded of members when admitted to the Order: All Members have to observe the Constitution, General Rules of the Order and other by-laws of the Order and to obey their senior officers. There are some financial obligations, like the payment of conferment and annual fees. Each member is asked to participate actively, according to their ability, in the works for the underprivileged, poor and aged who are in need. This involves the concerned giving of services and funds, or the supply of equipment, clothing and other necessary items required by the needy. Also, it is expected that every Member will endeavour, where possible, to support the Order by attendance at as many of its events as possible, like; Investitures, Priory and International meetings, etc. Members are encouraged to act and work in a respectable manner, to lead to the extention of the Order and its Aims and Objectives.

How To Become A Member

Any person interested in becoming a member of the Ordo Equester Aurei Cervi (Inc.) is herewith invited to contact the nearest Priory or Commandery within their home Country. You may attend a meeting or participate in an event organised by that Priory or Commandery and explain your interest to the senior officers being present. They will supply you with more information and with an application form. All further contact relating with your application has to be channeled through this Priory or Commandery only.

If no such Priory or Commandery exists in your country, you are invited to download the following Application Form. This form must be completely filled in and sent together with the necessary attachments to:

Only application forms duly filled in and signed, with all necessary attachments, and sent by snail mail can be processed. Please note that forms sent by e-mail or facsimile (fax) can not be handled.

According to the Constitution as a rule, any new member, approved for membership must be admitted at the Grade of "Member". The application form must be attached by a letter, together with the appropriate Fees (Not Negotiable cheque, bank note [Credit Card or PayPal Payment may be organised, please indicate this on the form or by Email]); a registered letter is preferred. For exceptional reasons only H.G. the Grand Master may award a higher Grade. In such cases you will be contacted by the Secretary-General of the Order.
